Rick Richardson, 64, of Palestine, IL, died April 23, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born August 18, 1955, in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Roy "Buster" & Pearl “Peggy” Richardson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sonja Richardson. He married Sue (Bailey) on June 4, 1983, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Christian Seaney & partner Danniel Hartleroad (Palestine, IL), Chad & Andrea Richardson (Boonville, IN); by his grandchildren, Drew Richardson, Kate Richardson, and Spencer Martin; by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Terri & Jeff Grumieaux (Vincennes, IN) and Deb & Herman Helderman (Lawrenceville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Rick grew up in the Lawrenceville area and was a 1973 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. He would go on to work for Ameren as a lineman, a job he truly enjoyed until his health brought him to retire after nearly 40 years of service. He was so good at his job, in fact, that he taught it in trade school for a time! A longtime member of IBEW Local #702, he was also involved with a number of other local organizations including the Edward Dobbins Lodge #164 in Lawrenceville, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3329 in Palestine, as well as the Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine. Anyone fortunate enough to know Rick could attest to the fact that he lived "all-in". If he was interested in something, he was consumed with it until it was mastered. Various seasons of his life found him expertly racing motorcycles, horse riding, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, among other interests. Even eating ice cream was done with such gusto that it was apparent that he, (in his own words), "worked hard and played hard". One could even say that he "loved hard". It was apparent that his heart was for his family. He and Sue were inseparable, finding adventure together on horseback or atop of their motorcycle. He pursued interests with his sons: with Christian, he'd spend countless hours in the peace of his fishing boat, while he and Chad shared in the thrill of the hunt together. Sure, they'd argue some, but nobody's perfect...a fact that led Rick to find his Savior. The last several years have found him growing in his walk with the Lord, and because he placed his life in Jesus' hands, we have the assurance that his 64 years were only the beginning in light of eternal life. We who are left behind will miss his love and wonderful sense of humor, but we know that our loss is temporary and that we, by the grace of God, will see Rick again.
