Richard Paul Adams, 85, of Robinson, Illinois, died on October 20, 2019, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. He was born April 16, 1934, rural Montgomery Township, rural Crawford County, IL, the son of Milo Earl & Ruby Chloe (Kirk) Adams, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Rhea Frye at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in 1953, and they were married for 65 years before she preceded him in death on October 27, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Ann Adams; and by his brothers, Charles Adams and George Adams. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Rhonda & Les Moade (Robinson, IL); by his son, Roger Earl Adams (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren & their spouses, Aimee & Chris Weber (Robinson, IL), James Moade (NC), Lacee & Pat Keller (Huntley, IL), and Jason Adams (CO); by his great-grandchildren, Conner Weber, Cydnee Weber, Peyton Moade, Pierson Moade, Palmer Moade, Aria Keller, Adler Keller, and Ayla Keller; by his sisters, Betty & Sam Soulis and Rosemary Von Wald. Richard grew up in the Heathsville area, but attended school in Palestine. In high school, he played running back for PHS, and made many memories and friends along the way. After graduating in 1952, he went to work for L.S. Heath & Sons for a time before getting on as a salesman with Pepsi-Cola and RC-Cola. Away from work, he could often be found hunting or fishing from his cabin on the river. Later years found him at McDonalds and other area restaurants, enjoying breakfast and dinner with his friends. Anyone who knew him could attest to this one fact: Richard Adams was a people-person. This made him not only a great salesman, but a great friend as well. He was in his element walking through Wal-Mart, chatting up a storm aisle after aisle. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man whose smile reminded you that life is what you make it, and Richard made his count. A member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, we have assurance in knowing that Richard put his faith in Christ and is now experiencing the fullness of his eternal life alongside his Savior. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery.
