Richard M. Bollinger, 68, of Robinson died at 8:40 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born January 26, 1943 in Robinson, the son of Lyle Bollinger & Norma Winger Bollinger. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1966 as an air policeman. He was a unit operator and also worked in maintenance at the Marathon Oil Company for over 30 years. Richard loved baseball. He was the 23rd District Baseball Commissioner, as well as the manager for the Robinson American Legion Baseball Team for 28 years and a volunteer baseball coach for LTC for 11 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Hutsonville, a Past Commander and a Life Member of the Robinson American Legion, a Lifetime Member of the LTC Foundation, a past member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, a member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250 and the Scottish Rite of Danville, as well as the Aidad Shrine of East St. Louis.On March 31, 1964, he married Susan Padgett, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Carla Bollinger (Franklin, IN); his granddaughter, Rebecca & Eric Martin (Charleston, SC); his great-grandson, Camren; his sister, Jayne Roads (Indianapolis, IN); and two aunts, Juanita Matheny (Robinson,IL) and Alma Jean Winger (Greenwood, IN). He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Rebecca Bollinger.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Tom Akers officiating. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery, rural Graysville, IN, with military graveside honors being conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132 and the AmVets Post #33. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Robinson American Legion Baseball or to the LTC Baseball Program, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
