Richard Dee €œDick€ Woodward, Sr., 61 of Russellville, IL died at 11:18 a. m. Saturday February 9, 2013 with his family at his side after a battle with cancer. He was born July 7, 1951, in Palestine at the Ikemire Clinic, the son of Tim C. Woodward and Bertha E. Devin Woodward. Dick graduated in 1969 from Lawrenceville Township High School. He received an Associate Degree from Lincoln Trail College in Heating & Cooling, Refrigeration. He was formerly employed at Hershey in Robinson; Decker Back Hoe, Lawrenceville, and Complete Farm Conservation Operation, Lawrenceville. He was a laborer & operator. He is survived by his four children, Richard Dee (Lela) Woodward , Palestine, Melinda (Tom) Dennis, Oblong, Monica (Scott) Piper, Palestine, Ryan (Linette) Woodward, Oblong; seven grandchildren; Tiffany & Ray Woodward, Brendyn, Halle & Aidyn Piper, Haze Lemmon, & Reeve Dennis. He is also survived by a very good friend, Gina Sutton, Vincennes, IN and several nieces and nephews. He was the thirteenth child of seventeen. His siblings are: three brothers, Tom & Betty Woodward, Flat Rock, Jack & Carolyn Woodward, Connersville, IN, Timmie & Kay Woodward, Lawrenceville; four sisters, Betty & Bill Shultz, Lawrenceville, Bert & Vance Pinkstaff, Lawrenceville, Lucy Silver & Joe Wagner, Evansville, IN, Rachel & Larry Hunsaker, Lawrenceville. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Glen, Harold, John, Jim & Bill Woodward and four sisters, Wanda Burton, Wilma Gowen, Frances Windel & Edna Lee Hall. He was a member of The Moose Lodge, The Eagles, and Sons of The American Legion. He enjoyed going to the Races, being outdoors, mushroom hunting, mowing & most of all being w/ his family & friends. He loved to dance. He loved laughing and making others laugh. He will be missed. Services will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, Wednesday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, February 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Price Cemetery, rural Russsellville, IL. A dinner to follow the funeral services at the Eagles Club in Palestine for friends and family. Memorials may be made to the Richard Woodward, Sr. Memorial Fund with envelopes at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine.
