Richard "Dick" Herre, Jr, 77, of Robinson, IL, entered into eternal rest on August 30, 2020. He was born February 23, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Richard L. Herre, Sr. & Edna Chain-Herre, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Kearns on February 26, 1972, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage before his passing. He is also survived by his sons, Chris & Jennifer Herre and Cameron Herre; by his grandchildren, Connor, Cailyn, and Carsyn; by his sister, Ruth Herre-Bane; as well as three generations of nieces and nephews. Dick grew up in Philadelphia before he and his family moved to the Richmond, IN area when he was 9. Here, he made many lifelong friends before graduating from Richmond High School. He would further his education at Indiana University-Bloomington, where he earned a Bachelor's in Marketing. Dick proudly served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Back home, he found work as a salesman, eventually making his way to Robinson, where he ran the Cambridge Men's and Abbey's Women's Clothing Stores for many years. Retirement often found him on the golf course, and this provided him with countless hours of entertainment. It must be stated, however, that what mattered most of all was what he accomplished for the Kingdom of God. By any and all accounts, Dick was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior. There was hardly a day that went by that didn't find him deep in prayer at Crawford County Christian Center, where he was a longtime and active member. From this relationship with God came an overflow of love that was evident in the innumerable relationships he forged over his 77 years. Anyone blessed enough to know him could never forget the joy with which the man lived his life. In short, Dick let his light shine before men, and in doing so, glorified his Father. He personified his favorite quote: "When all is said and done and past, only what's done for Christ will last." We thank God for the eternal life and never-ending legacy of Dick Herre. He will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
