Richard Arnold Holley

Richard Arnold Holley, 87, of Palestine, IL, died at 8:00 p.m. (e.s.t.) at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN, Saturday, December 1, 2007. He was born June 28, 1920 in Empire, Walker County, AL, the son of Henry Holley and Beulah Stack Holley. He retired in 1982 from American Maize Co. which is now Cargill Worldwide. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Walker County, AL. He married Ailene Vandervere and she preceded him in death after 44 years of marriage in 1984. He married Freda Evans and Mary Duscia and they both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lillie Mae Holley; his son, Richard Holley, Jr.; 2 sisters, Icie Stewart and Autrey Pendelton; and 2 brothers, Johnnie Lee and Elbert Holley.He married Mary Eva Deaton on November 22, 1996 and she survives. He is also survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Dennis Jerome, Hammond, IN, Annie and Jim Bennett, Danville, IL; Jane and George Jenkins, Palestine; his son, Arlon Holley, Hammond, IN; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Vinnie M. Anderson, Tilton, IL, and Lillie Myrtle and Charles Robbins, Danville, IL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Linda Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5th from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Prostate Cancer Early Detection Fund, with envelopes at the funeral home.
