Richard Allen "Rick" Hyre

Richard Allen "Rick" Hyre, 57, of Starke, FL, passed away tragically on April 7th, 2023 doing what he loved. He was born October 17th, 1965, in Valparaiso, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, Charles E Hyre, and nephews, Little Charles E Hyre and Bryce Batson.

He is survived by his mother, Mary C. Hyre; by his children, Samantha Hyre, Jessica Hyre, Tyler Hyre, and Jennifer Viruet. 6 grandchildren, Shane, Spencer, Alayna, Jayden, Tanner, and Lucian. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, James & Lynn Hyre and Mark & Melva Hyre; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia & Chris Maibauer and Linda & Doug Burbeck; Aunt Vivian Friedrich; His ex-wife, Dawn. Many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a community of well-loved extended family.

Rick grew up in Chesterton, IN, with a guitar in his hand. He played in President Reagan's Inauguration in 1981. He went on to excel into the engineering field, where he was a part of the orientation video for new hires in the company. He was a man of many talents. He wrote his own songs and played any instrument he laid his hands on. His instrument of choice, for good reason, was the bass in which he played with many bands over the years. He was inventive and creative. A "Rick of all trades".

Rick was kind, compassionate, passive, and put everyone before himself. He didn't know a stranger. He was funny and outgoing but quiet. He was gentle with the kindest, most beautiful soul. He, as well as his music, will live on forever in our hearts and our ears.

A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21st, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. A memorial service officiated by his family will immediately follow and be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. In honor of this dear man's passion for music, memorial contributions may be made to the "Save The Music Foundation", to help provide music education for millions of students nationwide.
