Rebecca "Becky" Rutigliano of Robinson, IL, passed away on May 7, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Born on August 17, 1955, in Robinson, IL, Becky's 67 years were filled with unbounded laughter, an undying love for children, and an unending drive to help those around her.
Raised in Robinson, Becky graduated from Oblong High School in the Class of 1973. She went on to attend Lincoln Trail College, where she earned an associate degree. Her academic journey served as a strong foundation for her eventual career in early childhood education. A natural caretaker with a nurturing spirit, she opened a nursery named "Eight is Enough," where she only took on eight children at a time, reflecting her commitment to providing quality care. Following her passion for molding young minds, Becky transitioned into becoming a teacher's aide at Palestine Grade School and later for the preschool class at New Hebron Christian School. In 2009, she decided to take care of her beloved mother full-time and did so until Susie's death in 2015. Following this, she continued to serve others, including several older adults, and recently devoted herself to caring for her granddaughter, Stormi.
A creative force, Becky explored her talents in sewing, embroidering, and crafting, creating beautiful works from quilts to curtains. Her skills extended to mending clothes - particularly her son-in-law Jed's pants! Becky always had some project going, and she wasn't afraid to grab a saw or hammer to restore furniture, demonstrating her industrious nature. It was this very nature that allowed her to be a blessing to others, as she was always willing to lend a hand, provide support, or offer assistance to anyone in need. In fact, her presence alone had the power to uplift those around her, as she was known for her witty puns and humorous teasing.
The incredible life and legacy left behind by Becky Rutigliano will never be forgotten; she will remain forever in the hearts and memories of the countless lives she touched. With her passing, she leaves behind a beautiful example of courage, generosity, and laughter for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Becky's memory will be cherished and honored by her daughter & son-in-law, Anna & Jedidiah Dunlap (Robinson, IL); her granddaughter, Stormi Dunlap; her step-granddaughters, Kristina, Angel, and Lillian; and her loving brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Dena Hayes (Raleigh, IL), Randy Hayes (Robinson, IL), and Gregory & Jennifer Hayes (Oblong, IL). Her close friends, Linda Stewart, Sheila Wakefield, and Brenda Mann, as well as several other beloved friends and extended family members, including her special niece, Frances Woosley, will also continue to hold dear the time they shared with Becky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Ruth "Susie" (Scott) Hays; her brother, Roscoe Leonard (in infancy); a grandchild (in infancy); and her sister-in-law, Tanya Hayes.
