Raymond "R.L." Roy, 68, of Robinson, IL, died February 16, 2020, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. He was born on November 19, 1951, in Palestine, IL, the son of Raymond & Sue Roy, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Roy, and his beloved Teacup Chihuahua, Precious. He is survived by his daughters, Sue Hendrichs (Granite City, IL) and Grace Roy (Granite City, IL); by his son, Raymond Roy (Robinson, IL); by his granddaughters, Anah Hendrichs (Granite City, IL), Hayley Hendrichs (Granite City, IL) and Shiloh Hendrichs; by his sister, Peggy Maxwell (Robinson, IL); by his brother, Ralph Roy (Evansville, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews, including his niece and caregiver, Jeannie Goff (Robinson, IL). He grew up in the Duncanville area and was a graduate of Robinson High School. Though his life was riddled with physical ailments, it was evident that R.L. enjoyed his life. He knew the freedom of riding a motorcycle on the open road, the joy of playing guitar and listening to his beloved rock'n'roll, and the peace of tending to his sister's garden. Much of his time at home was spent either watching martial arts movies or professional wrestling, and these provided him with countless hours of entertainment. R.L. will be remembered as a loving, caring soul. His role in life was that of a gentle servant, and he would do anything he could to help those in need. He modeled his life after Jesus Christ, who he worshipped alongside his church family at the Pilgrim Holiness Church. We have the assurance that R.L. has broken free from the chains of this broken world and is experiencing the fullness of life alongside his Savior. His faith has made him whole. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21st at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Gray officiating the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
