Randy Butcher

September 15, 1956 — November 16, 2024

Randy Butcher, 68, of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 15, 1956, in Terre Haute, IN, Randy was the son of Harold and Virginia "Jenny" (Krise) Butcher, who preceded him in death.

Randy married the love of his life, Christie Miller, on December 19, 1979. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and adventure. He was a devoted father to Joshua & Lesley (Piersall) Butcher and Elizabeth & Phillip Williams, and a proud grandfather to Jaden Butcher, Ainsley Butcher, Lucy Butcher, Eliette Williams and Zachary Williams. Randy also loved his sisters, Joyce & Bob Weger and Charlotta Wilson, along with his many nieces and nephews.

Raised in Flat Rock, IL, Randy was a graduate of Robinson High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. An accomplished chemical engineer, he worked for Marathon for 30 years, starting a career in Texas before returning to Robinson, where he continued his work and raised his family.

Randy was a man of strength and deep faith, devoted to both God and his loved ones. His life was a reflection of his values: integrity, love, and humility. A lifelong worshiper, he played guitar on the church's worship team and hosted Bible studies in his home for many years, nurturing others with his wisdom and spiritual guidance.

A homebody at heart, he loved being surrounded by his family and pets, including animals he cared for and often rescued. Randy loved to explore the world with Christie. Together, they traveled extensively, visiting Europe, Japan, and much of America in their RV. He grew to love the beach with Christie - a setting they embraced for its beauty and tranquility.

Randy's strength extended beyond the spiritual and emotional; he was a record-holding powerlifter who loved to spend time in the gym and, later, on a bike with his wife. His determination was evident in every aspect of his life, whether it was his career, his family, or his faith.

Above all, Randy adored his grandchildren. He reveled in their laughter, milestones, and personalities. He found immense joy in the legacy of love he helped build.

Randy's life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and quiet resilience. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, as well as in the lives he touched through his faith in Jesus Christ.
