Ralph Weger, 82, of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully under the watchful, tender, loving care of his daughter "Popsie" on September 21, 2024. He was born on October 11, 1941, in Robinson, Illinois, to Carl and Opal (Goff) Weger.
Ralph was a graduate of Robinson High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a work ethic that would serve him throughout his life. Ralph started as a mechanic for the local Pontiac dealership and held several jobs before dedicating 20 years of service as a skilled mechanic at Marathon. Beyond his work at Marathon, Ralph was a dedicated farmer for 62 years, a testament to his love for the land and the outdoors. His commitment to his community was evident through his service on the Farm Bureau Board and his work as a Road Commissioner for Honey Creek Township, where he served for eight years.
Ralph's interests were as vast as the outdoors he so loved. He spent countless hours in Brown County, took daily trips to town with his best friend and son, Doug "the banker," as well as taking several scenic drives with his family to admire the beauty of the crops and nature. He also loved indulging in hunting deer, quail, and rabbit. His passion for animals extended beyond the hunt, as evidenced by his fondness for his hunting dogs and the special bond he recently shared with a cat he raised from a kitten.
He was a man of deep faith, and his dedication to the Lord was the cornerstone of his life. His dependence on his faith saw him through life's trials and triumphs and was a source of inspiration for his family and all who knew him.
Ralph's life was enriched by his loving marriage to Carol White on May 27, 1962. Carol survives him, as do their children, Dan & Michelle Weger, Douglas Weger, and Twila Osborne. Ralph was a family man through and through, and he took immense joy in the lives of his grandchildren, Cory & Ashley Weger, Emily & Wyatt Kintner, Brad & Amber Weger, and Kaleigh & Jake White, as well as his great-grandchildren, Grace, Brooks, Jude, Georgia, Reid, Stella, Holland, Oakley, and Baylor. He also held a special place in his heart for his honorary grandchild, Bonnie "Giggler" Stephens. His sister, Mildred Hein, along with several nieces and nephews, also survived him.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter in infancy, Carla Sue Weger, his daughter-in-law Tina Weger, and his brother-in-law, Charles Hein.
Those who knew Ralph will remember him for his kind heart, his ability to fix anything he put his hands to, and his unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and compassionate care for those around him.
