Phyllis Strohm entered heaven early Sunday morning, December 6th, 2020, at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN. She was born July 16, 1936, in rural Belknap, IL to Evelyn (Schmedake) Crawford and William J. Crawford. She was an avid reader, collector of history, and of anything you happened to tell her you liked. She could justify buying anything from Goo Goo Cluster to 3 dresses at a time for E…because not buying them, ”would be a disservice to the dresses”. She loved making things to give away: ceramics, ornaments, and afghans (both knitted and crocheted). She continued until her hands would no longer allow. Surviving are her husband, Jack Strohm of Goodlettsville, TN; sisters, Sandra Crawford Dillard of St. Louis, MO and Denise J. Crawford of Terre Haute, IN; and brother, Stephen J. Crawford of Frankfort, KY. She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara Jackson Richards (Gary) of West Union, IL; son and caregivers, Carl Crawford Strohm (Carol) of Goodlettsville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Dr. John Jackson Richards (Allyson) & Emily Richards Mitchell (Kent) of Mashall, IL, Joseph Crawford Richards of Terre Haute, IN, Michael Strohm (Sydney) and James Strohm of Goodlettsville, TN; as well as 9 great-grandchildren. We know she was welcomed at the gate of heaven by her son, John R. Jackson, Jr. “Bobby”, brothers-in-law, mother, and numerous beloved friends. We are quite confident she was met by her dad, step-mother, Anne; sister, Dr. Caroline Crawford Taylor; and nephew, David Dillard, Rook deck in hand, and the oft uttered phrase, “Sit down, shut-up and deal!” Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, services will be private. Phyllis will be laid to rest in the Ohio Cemetery. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
