Patty J. Wade, 70, of Flat Rock, IL, went to be with the Lord at 2:41 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN, surrounded by her precious family. She was born April 23, 1948 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Richard & Hattie (Goff) McIntire, both of whom preceded her in death. She married George W. Wade on November 21, 1964, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Kimberly Dawn (Wade) Decker & husband David (Robinson, IL) and Tiffiney Ann (Wade) McCullough & husband Kenneth (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Zachery Decker, Zeth Poettker, Ethan Decker and wife Dakota, Bryan McCullough & wife Whitney, Benjamin McCullough, and Keira McCullough; along with four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James Neely & wife Kim (HI); by her sisters, Peg Wesley & husband Larry (Flat Rock, IL) and Patricia Wampler & husband Harry (Columbus, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. Patty dedicated her life to caring for others and became a Licensed Practical Nurse to do just that. Her career started at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL before getting on at Crawford Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care, where she worked for 10 years. Her many years of caring for the elderly and dying came to a close in 2004, when she retired from Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home. Even then, she continued working as George’s sidekick on their turkey farm. Patty loved spending time outdoors, as evidenced by her vegetable garden and the many flowers she planted around the house. Anyone who knew her could attest to the special place she had in her heart for animals. She took in countless strays over the years, making her home theirs. Patty was a member of the United Methodist Church of Flat Rock and had a strong faith in the Lord. There’s peace in knowing that today, the faith that she’s held onto for so long has been made sight. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 on Monday, April 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on her birthday, April 23rd at the funeral home with Bro. Gene Beard officiating. Burial will follow and will be held in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. In honor of Patty’s love of animals, memorials may be made to the “Crawford County Humane Society”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
