Patti Jean Snider, 54 of Eldorado, IL formerly of Oblong, died at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born August 16, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Darrell E. Shute and Peggy Ann McElwain Shute. She graduated from Bridgeport High School and went on to Eastern Illinois University where she graduated in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Patti was an elementary teacher and taught in several school districts including Dundas, Stringtown and later was a substitute for the Oblong school district. She was a member of White Oak Church, rural Oblong where she loved to sing and was an active member for many years. She was involved in many community activities. She was a Cub Scout leader for many years and was the Chairwoman of the Kiddy Tractor Pull held annually by the Oblong Antique Tractor Association.She was previously married to Jack Snider, and he survives. She is also survived by her two sons, Jason Snider, Oblong, and Jeremy Snider and his fianc Tiffany Collins, Oblong; her mother Peggy Shute, Vincennes; her sister and brother-in-law Martha and Walter Baker, Eldorado. She was preceded in death by her father.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
