Patsy Jo Andrus

January 14, 1937 — April 6, 2021

Patsy Jo Andrus, 84, of Parkersburg, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL, died April 6, 2021, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born January 14, 1937, in Wayne County, IL, the daughter of Charles & Zella (Perkins) Pollard, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Raleigh, Harry, Lewis & Charles Pollard. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Richard & Diane Andrus (Depere, WI), Douglas & Debra Andrus (Xenia, OH), Sharon & Wesley Pierce (Parkersburg, IL), and Charles Andrus (Madison, AL); numerous grand and great grandchildren; brother Thomas & Barbara Pollard (Danville, IL); as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Patsy accomplished much throughout her 84 years including graduating from nursing school in Chicago, IL and working as a registered nurse in Illinois and Colorado until hanging up her stethoscope to raise her family. She lived all over the Midwest, including Illinois, Colorado, Wisconsin, & Kansas, and made friends everywhere she went., never meeting a stranger. Upon moving to Robinson, operating a greenhouse instilled in her a deep love of flowers, a passion she would continue to hold for the rest of her life. In fact, few things brought her more peace & joy than spending time in her prayer garden and sharing her floral arrangements with her church family & friends. Eventually, she found her way back to the nursing field and worked for Dr. Samuel Allen until employment with the Illinois Department of Public Aid and retirement from the Bureau of Collections. Through a lifelong love of horses, Patsy moved to the farm which ultimately became "The Pony Place". There she enjoyed raising her four-legged friends in the beauty of God's creation. By all accounts, she held a deep appreciation of nature and the world around her, and in her twilight years, she loved to feed and watch birds from the comfort of her sunroom. Patsy was kind and generous to anyone in need and recently found joy in weaving plastic mats made from Wal-Mart bags that she donated to the homeless. She called the Zion United Methodist Church her "home" for many years and was committed to missions donations. She was also supportive of the Oblong Christian Children's Home and her loving kindness and joy bore evidence to the eternal life she found in Jesus Christ. It was the love she so readily poured out on others that pointed to the faith that made her whole. When referring to flowers growing in strange, barren places, she would proclaim "Everything wants to grow." We are thankful that, by the grace of God, the growth that Patsy found here on earth has made way for a beautiful bloom in a place where seasons don't end and years don't count. For those who miss her dearly, may you be comforted knowing she is in Heaven rejoicing with our Lord and Savior. It was Patsy's wish to be cremated without a public service, The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to an organization near and dear to her heart: the "Oblong Children's Christian Home". Checks may be mailed to: Oblong Children's Christian Home 4094 E 1050th Ave Oblong, IL 62449
