Patricia R. "Dee" Maxwell

July 31, 1932 — October 4, 2018

Patricia R. Maxwell, lovingly known as “Dee” to her friends and family, went to be home with her Lord & Savior at 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born July 31, 1932 in Porterville, IL, the daughter of Raymond & Juanita (Price) York, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lyle Maxwell on August 29, 1952, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1979. Her son, Greg Maxwell also entered heaven before her on December 9, 2003. She is survived by her precious grandchildren, Chris & Brandi Maxwell (Robinson, IL) and Brooke & Chris Spradlin (Lexington, KY); by her great-grandchildren, Audrey Maxwell and Taylor Maxwell; by her daughter-in-law, Denise Carder (Oblong, IL); by her sister-in-law, Claudie Woodward (Redding, CA); as well as several cousins. Dee grew up in Robinson and was a 1950 graduate of Robinson High School. She made it a priority to keep up with her classmates, from various get-togethers to the many class reunions she organized through the years. Early in her life, Dee worked as a secretary at Bell Brothers before inheriting York Truck Line from her Daddy. As owner/operator, she kept an immaculate fleet of Kenworths that hauled Heath Candy all over the country until 1986. She worked for Ickes Chevrolet and Silverthorne Chevrolet as a driver, a position she held for 25 years and loved dearly. She simply felt at home behind the wheel of a car. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed playing Canasta with her card club friends every month for 30 years. A member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, she was a staple of their Thursday Night Bingo for many years. Family meant everything to her, and nothing gave her more joy than cheering on her beloved great-grandchildren at their sporting events. Dee was a treasure and will forever be missed by her family and friends. There is peace in knowing that she accepted Christ as her Savior long ago, and that today, she is experiencing paradise. A time of visitation will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with burial following in the Robinson New Cemetery. Pastor Mick Laflin will officiate the service. Memorials may be made to the Robinson High School Alumni Association & Academic Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
