Patricia Ann Rich

September 1, 1933 — February 12, 2022

Patricia Ann Rich, 88, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away on February 12, 2022, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born September 1, 1933, in Stoy, IL, the daughter of Clifford Earnest Inboden, Sr. & Mary Deborah (Rich) Inboden, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Burl L. Rich on June 2, 1951, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann Inboden (in infancy); her brothers, Ronald Eugene Inboden (in infancy), Donald "Doc" Inboden, Clifford E. Inboden, Jr., and Roger B. Inboden; her sister-in-law & husband, Edith & Kenneth Rodgers; and her son-in-law, Randy Hemrich. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Stephen Eugene & Judy Rich (Robinson, IL); her daughter, Beverly Ann Hemrich (Flat Rock, IL); five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert D. Inboden; as well as several nieces and nephews. Pat grew up in Crawford County and was a 1951 graduate of Robinson High School. A day after graduation, she and Burl headed to Beecher City to get married and thus began 63 years of life together. Though she worked for a number of local institutions like the Robinson Kroger and Flat Rock Grade School, Pat's life was dedicated to tending to her house in South Union and all who called it "home". Never afraid of a little hard work, she busied herself canning, pickling her famous "14-Day Sweet Pickles", and making persimmon pulp. In fact, she and Burl maintained quite the persimmon pulp business, with Pat producing 400 pints in one year...manually! Not one to let dust settle, she spent much of her free time knitting and crafting, but mostly quilting. She hand-quilted countless treasures over the course of her 88 years and passed this passion on to her daughter, Bev. However, the greatest gift she gave us was a picture of what it looks like for a life to be partnered with God. Though she attended South Union Church for many years, it was the way she lived that pointed to her love of Jesus. We are thankful for her witness and find comfort knowing that on Saturday, Pat was met with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" A private family service will be held at a later date, with burial in the Tohill Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the "Epilepsy Foundation".
