Orville Lee Johnson, 88, died Sunday, March 14, 2021. He was born July 14, 1932, to the late Albert and Edna Smith Johnson. He was a 1950 graduate of Robinson High School and, in 1951, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Prairie from 1951-1955 during the Korean War and remained in the Naval Reserves until 1960. On March 30, 1952, he married Lonna Sue Reavill, and together, they shared "65 years, 7 months, and 3 days." After his time in the Navy, Johnson returned to Robinson and worked as a carpenter for the White Brothers and Marathon Refinery. He then started Orville L. Johnson Construction, where he designed and built quality homes in the Crawford County area. In 1968, Johnson bought a farm in Flat Rock, where he spent much of his time farming in addition to building houses before retiring in 1999. From 1972-1974 Orville also served on the Robinson School Board. Orville and Lonna enjoyed spending winters in Estero, Florida, and were always eager for their family to gather while home in Robinson. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Essie Mae Brown; the love of his life, Lonna; and a dearly beloved grandson, Kevin Lee Shehan. Johnson is survived by his children and their spouses, Mike and Jan Johnson of Louisville, KY, David and Lori Johnson of Florissant, MO, and Jana and Hunter Shehan of Bloomfield, KY. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kris and Aleks Johnson, Ben and Amanda Walker, Timothy Shehan, Leeanna and John Marshall, Allyssa and Nick Wildman, Kaleb Shehan; and by his great-grandchildren: Emmy, Max, Brenden, Kate, Annie, Reece, and Stella. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kyle Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the "Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary", with envelopes available at the funeral home. Please note that COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Thusly, masks and social distancing will be required on-premises.
