Ocie John Wilson, 94, of rural Robinson, IL, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at his residence. He was born July 6, 1915 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Ray P. Wilson and Julia (Garrard) Wilson. Although long retired he continued his long time interest in farming and often fondly reminisced about the changes from his horse drawn equipment to today’s technologically advanced methods of farming. During his 94 years he appreciated the evolution in all the advancements of equipment and technology he was associated with throughout his career. He loved flying and always looked forward to and enjoyed his flying trips to Michigan to visit his daughter, Barbara and her family. He enjoyed people, liked a good laugh, and seldom turned down an airplane ride, even at 94 years young. He was a member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348.Ocie married Opal May Vernia on October 10, 1943 and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1977. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Otho R. Wilson.He is survived by close friend and companion, Edith Rich; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tom Holden, Spring Lake, MI; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Charlotta Wilson, Robinson; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Holden, Lake Zurich, IL, Daniel Holden, Spring Lake, MI, Jessica (Wilson) Williams, Indianapolis, IN, Matthew C. Wilson, Robinson; and his sister, Ruth Reynolds, Robinson.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor George Meese officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 5th at the funeral home with Masonic services conducted by the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348 following visitation. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
