Norman S. White, 85, Robinson, IL, died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit. He was an instrument technician with Marathon Oil Company and retired in 1982 after 34 years of service. He was a member, Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board of the First Christian Church [Disciples of Christ] in Robinson and was elected Elder Emeritus in 1999. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII.He was born August 27, 1922 in Hardinville, IL the son of George E. White and Flossie Lee Stogsdill White. He married Fern E. Brush August 2, 1946 and she preceded him in death November 23, 2002. He then married Mary Jo Quinn in March 2006 and she survives.He is also survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Curtis Dee and Mary Ann White, Annapolis and Mark Steven and Madlyne White, Olympia, WA, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his sister; Georgine Brush, CA and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife Fern, 3 brothers Carl E. White, Virgil Allen White and Walter Earl White and a sister Gladys Lucille White.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Rev. Rob Rixman and Rev. Tom Akers officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
