Norma Louise Melton, 83, of Marshall, died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, where she lived as a resident for the past 7 years. She was born on October 22, 1925, the daughter of Clarence D. and Hallie Myers Lamb. She was a longtime secretary at Marshall Junior High School and a member of the Marshall First United Methodist Church.She married Murray A. Melton on August 16, 1946, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Rebecca Melton of Fairview Heights; her two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Janet Melton, Marshall, Murray, Jr. and Jane Ann Melton, West York. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses; Deanna and Lee Davis, Marshall, Debbie and Tim Wilkerson, Mount Vernon, Wendy and Troy Tharp, Marshall, Matt and Amanda Melton, Marshall, Misty and Chuck Wieland, Marshall, Lisa Melton Grauer, Collinsville, Murray Melton III and Melissa, Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Dix, Hutsonville, and Dorothy Wesner, Flat Rock; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicki Melton Murphy; a great-grandson William Murphy Davis; three brothers, Lester “Bud” Lamb, Gary Lamb, and an infant brother Clarence Lamb; three sisters, Dana Francine Lamb, Beulah Lamb, and Betty Enlow.Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, with Rev. Richard Lewis in charge of services. Burial will be in Bradbury Cemetery, rural West York. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12th at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall and from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Prust-Hosch Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Marshall Jr. High School Library. Envelopes will be available from the funeral home.
