Norma C. Connelly, 82, of Port Angeles, WA, formerly of Palestine, IL, passed away October 26, 2009. She was born May 27, 1927 near Palestine to Clarence €œJack€ Corder and Ella Garrard Corder. She attended the Wheeler and Morea Grade Schools and graduated from the Palestine High School with the class of 1946. She was employed at the Schmidt Clinic as a nurse assistant. She and her husband moved to California and then later to Washington State. She attended the Independent Bible Church in Port Angeles. She worked for Dr. Bill Gray, DDS as office manger and as secretary for Dr. Keith Thompson. She also was an alteration specialist for the Toggery. Norma was known as the €œquilt lady€. In her spare time she quilted and made more than 600 quilts. A few were sold, some gifts to family members, and all others were donated to orphanages and the Navaho Indian Mission. She loved her garden and flowers.She married Rex V. Connelly on March 15, 1947 and he preceded her in death. They had two children and their spouses, Patrick and Debbie Connell, Neptune Beach, FL and Kathie and Shawn Jones, Port Angeles, WA; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Mike Moore, Steve and Laura Phillips, Scott and Denise Connelly; 5 great grandchildren; Sydney, Christian, Carson, Destiny, and Savanah; her brother and sister-in-law, James H. and Opal Corder, Robinson; 3 sisters and her brother-in-law, Maxine Richey, Lois Ann Miller, Robinson, Janet and Harry Redman, Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Mt. Olive (Kickapoo) Cemetery, Clark County, IL. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine is in charge of arrangements. Memorial may be made to the Palestine Public Library.
