Nial R Motor, Jr

Nial R. Motor, Jr., 90, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson. He was born January 2, 1921 in Flat Rock, IL the son of Nial R. Motor, Sr. and Florence Riggs Motor. He graduated from Lawrenceville Township High School, Lawrenceville, IL where he played basketball. Nial served in the U. S. Marine Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was an insurance salesman for 28 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Robinson, Thomas Jennings Marine Corp League, Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. He was a youth baseball coach for many years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.Nial married Eva Mae Strange on July 20, 1946 and she survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Becky Motor, Springfield; his daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Scott Erton, Palestine; his grandchildren, Natalie Motor, Springfield, Ethan Knoblett, Palestine, Cole Knoblett, Palestine, Timothy Erton, Flat Rock, Kendra Erton, Flat Rock; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leon Motor.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Amy Wharton officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 16th preceding the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Youth Baseball with envelopes available at the funeral home.
