Newell L. €œNewely€ Newlin, 76, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born August 27, 1933 in Stoy, IL, the son of Elmer Newlin and Mercedes Osborn Newlin. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1995 from Fisher Auto Parts which was formerly Loeser Auto Parts and Cox Auto Parts. He was a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 and a former member of the Robinson Moose. He was a manager of Norm€™s Aces and an assistant manager of the Robinson Orphans.€œNewely€ married Barbara Watts on April 23, 1965 and she survives. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Bill Sholders, Burleson, TX; his brother-in-law and special friend, Bruce White and Joanne White, both of Palestine; his brother-in-law and his wife, Verlon L. and Carol Watts, Danville, IL; 6 nieces and their husbands, Patsy and Frank McCammon, Robinson, Sandra and Monte Bickers, Palestine, Lori and Jeff Chernosky, Alvarado, TX, Doyetta and Steve Walton, Hooker, OK, Stacie Bragg, OK; Tracie Watts, TX; 1 nephew and his wife, Ryan and Michelle Sholders, Burleson, TX; 7 great nieces, Jessica Louise Walton and Jamie Lynn Walton, both of Hooker, OK, Mikaela Sholders and Ashley Sholders, both of Burleson, TX, Alexis Leanne Chernosky and Erica Chernosky, both of Alvarado, TX, Sarah Bickers, Palestine; and 2 great nephews, Garrett Sholders, Burleson, TX and Matt Bickers, Palestine.He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters, Helen White and Bonnie Young.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Revs. Jerry and Dwight McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Am Vets Post #33, V. F. W. Post #4549, American Legion Post #69, and American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Robinson with envelopes available at the funeral Home.
