Morris Gosnell, 84, of Robinson, IL, died on April 18, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1938, in Altamont, IL, the son of Carl & Pauline (McVicker) Gosnell.
Morris grew up in Lawrenceville, IL, graduating from Lawrenceville High School in 1955. Early in his life, Morris worked at the filling station, where he met a young Donna Stewart, who he would later make his bride. Morris also worked at The Brown shoe factory and Briggs known to most as "The Pottery". Morris had a very strong work ethic, and gave his all to providing for his family. Unfortunately, this took a great toll on his body and forced him into retirement.
Outside of work, Morris found solace and peace by embracing nature through his love for archery, fishing, and hunting. Many hunters, young and old sought Morris' advice when it came to archery and deer hunting. It was very important for Morris to teach ethical hunting. Morris learned some taxidermy and how to craft his own recurve bow.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Glen & Carrol Gosnell, Greg Gosnell, and Kim & Garth Bailey; his beloved grandchildren, Kaycee Gosnell, Megan Gosnell, and Miles Bailey; also by his sister, Martha Jane Beaver of Webb City, MO and brother-in-law, Bill (Gene) Wheeler of Clarksville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Pauline Gosnell. Sadly, Donna, his wonderful wife of 63 years, preceded him in death on April 10, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Betty Ann Kirk, Delores Jean Lisenbee, and Wanda Lee Wheeler.
It was Morris's wish to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
