Milly Waldroup, 76, of Palestine, IL, died December 28, 2019, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on September 2, 1943, in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Wilbur Wesley & Eva Wesley, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Raymond "Lee" Waldroup; her daughters, Janet Chatelain and Mary Michael (Terry) both of Palestine; and her grandchildren, Allie Chatelain (Dean Armoneit), Sydney Michael (Matt Joris), Katie Chatelain, Elaina Cornwell and Parker Michael. Also surviving are her brothers & sisters, Janet Wesley, Ed and Brenda Wesley, Iona Shafer, John Wesley and Rick and Mary Cutright. In addition, she has multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who survive. Milly worked at Brock Food Town for near 20 years, where she grew to know everyone and everything going on in Palestine. She also volunteered for years at the Palestine Labor Day Celebration, where she enjoyed a rodeo on her birthday for years. More than anything, however, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. Few things mattered more to her than being the best wife, mom, and grandma she could be, and she will be remembered for the time and energy she poured into each of these roles. She never missed her daughters’ events as they were growing up, and years later, Milly attended as many of her grandkids events as possible. Their laughter was the greatest joy in her life. Her love lives on in their hearts, as well as the hearts of all those she cherished, and she could never be forgotten. A woman of faith, she was a longtime and devoted member of South Union Church in Flat Rock and Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine. Because she placed her faith in Christ, we have the assurance that Milly isn't gone; she's just gone home. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Outer West Market Church of Christ, (805 W Market St. in Palestine). Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church with Pastor Tim Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Palestine NOW Program", to help provide supplemental food to students within the Palestine school district. Envelopes will be available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
