Michael "Mike" Redmon

January 3, 1973 — September 7, 2023

Michael "Mike" Redmon passed away at the age of 50 on September 7, 2023, in Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. Born on January 3, 1973, in Olney, IL, Mike was a devoted family man and selfless friend who will forever be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure to know him. Mike was brought up in Robinson, IL, and graduated from Robinson High School in 1992. He began his college journey intending to expand his knowledge in computer science, but family always came first for Mike. To take on his new role as his family's provider, he halted his studies and focused on building a secure environment for his loved ones.

From meek beginnings meeting Susie at Gallo's Red & White, many employment milestones defined Mike's journey. He started at United Technologies Automotive in Newton, IL, contributing earnestly until their closure in 1996. Following a brief stint at Wal-Mart Distribution, he finally found his stride at Hershey in 1997, where he dedicated 26 fruitful years, primarily engrossing himself in the Payday line.

Mike had diverse interests that ranged from computer building and programming to Indy car and drag racing. His fascination with classic cars portrayed his impeccable taste and appreciation for timeless beauty, and his love for St. Louis Cardinals baseball was, simply put, unparalleled. Those who had the pleasure of meeting Mike would describe him as genuine, with a heart of gold. His selfless, kind, and friendly nature earned him several friends throughout his life. Above all, he was known for his honesty and unique ability to entertain with his clever, often cheeky humor.

Mike's unwavering dedication to others was evident until the very end, as he chose to be an organ donor. His legacy is one of selflessness and authenticity, and we would do well to replicate the way he lived his 50 years with us. Despite his physical absence, Mike's spirit lives on, reminding us of the importance of resilience, unwavering kindness, and the courage to be genuine in a world often masked by pretenses. As we celebrate his life, let us strive to embody the selfless spirit of Mike Redmon, a man who continues to inspire us all.

He is survived by his son, Shane Redmon (Champaign, IL) and James Robert Thomlinson (Murphysboro, IL); his two grandchildren, David Thomlinson (Palestine, IL) and Noah Hixson (Claremont, IL); his brothers, Christopher Redmon (Mason City, IA) and Richard Redmon (Robinson, IL); his sisters & brothers-in-law, Teresa M. & Joel Goff (Robinson, IL) and Sharon R. & Chuck Stephens (Robinson, IL); along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He married Susan J. "Susie" Baud on April 18, 1992, and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Warren & Suzanne (Schwartz) Redmon; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ray & Treva Baud; his brother-in-law, Randall Baud; and his niece, Kaycee.
