Michael Lee Gullett, 53, of Carbondale, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL, died suddenly on October 21, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL. Mike was born on September 26, 1967, in Robinson, IL, the son of Tommy Lee Gullett & Patricia "Patsy" (Dart) Gullett, both of whom preceded him in death. Mike married Brandi Gullett on September 12, 2006, and she survives. He is also survived by their children, Thomas Michael Gullett and Piper Elizabeth Gullett; by his special friend, Kerry Roth Zerla (Fishers, IN); by his sisters, Linda Staley (Robinson, IL), Vicki Hightower (Peoria, IL), and Mary "Lisa" Soles (Kansas City, MO); by his uncle, Steve Dart (Carbondale, IL); and by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mike grew up in Robinson and was a 1985 graduate of Robinson High School. He furthered his education at the University of Evansville, where he served as president of the Phi Tau fraternity while earning his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Eventually, he also earned his MBA from SIU-Edwardsville. Besides a short stint with Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, most of his professional career was spent with Ameren, where he was a Supervisor of Distribution Design. Time away from work often found Mike spending time with his beloved children, Tom and Piper. They were his heart and soul, and brought life to his living. Sports also played an important role throughout his 53 years. In high school, he played baseball and basketball, the latter of which he continued to play through the decades alongside his beloved friends. He enjoyed teeing off with them on the golf course as well. They could all speak to the man's fun-loving nature as well as to his inherent kindness. Mike Gullett was, in short, a big man with an even bigger heart. He was always seeking to see the good in everyone and consistently put the needs of others ahead of his own. He made the world around him a brighter, kinder place, and for that, we are forever thankful.
