Michael "Mike" Clark Pool passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, IL, at the age of 62. He was born on March 22, 1961, in Olney, IL, the son of Stanley Eugene & Glenda Sue (Clark) Pool. A talented athlete in his youth, Mike played four years of offensive and defensive tackle in high school before graduating from Robinson High School in 1979. He went on to attend Lincoln Trail College and Eastern Illinois University, eventually earning a degree in Business Management from EIU. Mike built for himself a career as a manager at several fast-food establishments, including Kentucky Fried Chicken, Rally's, Long John Silver's, and Arby's. He also held management positions at Ruler's, Save-a-Lot, and Pool's Bargain Center.
A passionate sports aficionado, Mike closely followed and ardently supported Casey High School football. He was also a Chicago Bears fan, but he made it abundantly evident that his heart belonged to the Chicago Cubs. Mike's keen interest in sports led to a substantial and impressive collection of baseball cards, acquired through numerous visits to card shops with his mother. The duo also enjoyed shopping for antiques together, making for many cherished memories.
As we remember Mike Pool, let us celebrate the life he led with vivid intensity, remarkable intelligence, and unparalleled enthusiasm. Rest in peace, Bubba.
He is survived by his father & stepmother, Stan Pool & Marjorie Steber-Pool (Robinson, IL); by his sisters, Michele (Pool) Hinterscher Nidey (Robinson, IL), Robin (Pool) & Mike Pleasant (Arnold, MD), and Regina Pool & Gayle Baker (Robinson, IL); by his special uncle, Don Clark; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Glenda Sue (Clark) Pool; his grandparents, Don & Pauline (Stanley) Pool and Adrian & Mabel (Hasler) Clark; and by two brothers-in-law, Kevin Hinterscher and Kenny Nidey.
