Max E Bonnell

Max E. Bonnell, 78 of Robinson, IL, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born October 11, 1929 in Porterville, the son of Guy L. Bonnell and Laura Mitchell Bonnell. He retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1970 after 22 years of service. He was a member and Deacon of the Robinson First Christian Church Disciples of Christ; the Robinson American Legion Post #69; the Robinson B. P. O. E. Elks Lodge #1188; and the Oak Glen Golf Course. He was also a member of the Robinson City Council for 14 years, served as precinct committeeman for over 10 years, and served on the Robinson 4th of July Committee.He married Marian McCarty November 1, 1953 and she survives. He is also survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven G. and Charlene Walters, Indianapolis, Rick and Marisa Bonnell, Robinson; 3 grandchildren, Amber Walters, Champaign, Brooke Bonnell, Robinson, and Ericka Bonnell, Robinson; his sister, Cora Mae Sharp, Detroit, MI; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kay Bonnell, Robinson; 2 sisters-in-law, Linda Bonnell, Oblong and Lou Bonnell, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Lester, Chuck, Lowell, Glen 'Jew' Bonnell, and one brother in infancy; and 2 sisters, Martha Dale and Catherine Sharp.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5th at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Rev. Tom Akers and Rev. Rob Rixman officiating. Burial is in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis. Visitation will be Sunday, May 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard.
