Mary Lou York

Mary Louise (Howard) York, 99, formerly of Robinson, IL, died at 2:35 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Heartland Manor Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born October 11, 1910 in Bridgeport, IL, the only daughter of Joseph R. Howard and Eleanor Alice Painter Howard. At age of 3 she, with her parents, moved to Robinson where she spent most of her life. She €œgrew up€ in the Methodist Church teaching while still quite young and singing in the choir until her marriage. She joined the church while still very young. She was steadfast in her faith, always trying to keep her Master€™s word, €œ €œDo unto others.€ Always doing what she could and caring much what happened to all those around her.On May 20, 1934 she was united in marriage with Paul E. York and was a steadfast, loving companion, working and caring for her family as long as her strength held out. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steven York; and her brother, Joseph Howard.She is survived by her daughter Connie C. Rice, Casey, IL; 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Debra and Kevin Jean, Mocksville, NC, Pam J. and Mike Brandenberg, Casey; 3 great granddaughters; and 2 great grandsons.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday preceding the services.Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, Mo 63131 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
