Mary "Frances" Dunlap

Mary “Frances” Dunlap, 91 of Palestine, IL, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson. She was born January 11, 1918 in Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of Elcany Shumaker and Mary Eleanor Porter Shumaker. She worked on the assembly line at Crawford Electronics. She was a member of the South Union Church, rural Flat Rock and was an avid quilter and gardener.She married Virgil T. Dunlap October 31, 1936 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother in infancy.She is survived by 3 daughters, Carol Rodgers, Palestine, Esther Inboden, Stoy, and Irene Weger, Palestine; 2 sons and her daughter-in-law, Jim Dunlap, Bradford, Arkansas, Larry and Lisa Dunlap, Robinson; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock with Brother Jack Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the Charlottesville Cemetery, Lawrence County, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 27th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Oblong Christian Children’s Home or to the South Union Mission Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
