Mary Erlene Mckimmy

Mary Erlene McKimmy, 87 of Hammond, IN, formerly of Palestine, died at 10:59 a.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her residence in Hammond. She was born March 25, 1924 in Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Billy Lewis and Myrtle Sebastian Lewis. She was a homemaker. Erlene married Charles H. McKimmy on April 30, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry McKimmy; 4 brothers, Snapper Lewis, George Lewis, Ralph Lewis and Lester Lewis; 1 grandson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Alicia McKimmy, Hammond, IN; 7 grandchildren, Jerry McKimmy, Jr., Palestine, Charles 'Chuck' McKimmy, Vincennes, IN, Andy McKimmy, U.S. Air Force, Travis McKimmy, and David McKimmy, both of Hammond, IN, Orian McKimmy, Heathsville, and David McKimmy, Newton; and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Paul Phillips is in charge of services. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation is at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10th and until service time on Friday.
