Mary Emma Wright

Mary Emma Wright, 98, of 703 W Mulberry St. in Robinson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in the comfort of her home with her two daughters by her side. She was born August 27, 1924, in Eaton (Porterville), IL, the daughter of Albert & Julia (Lionberger) Van Schoyck.

She married Melvin L. Turpin on November 7, 1941, in St. Louis, MO. During her married life with Melvin, his job in the oil fields found them moving to many places before finally making their home in Robinson. She worked for L.S. Heath for 10 years, Crawford Memorial Hospital for 15 years, Ensley's, as well as Crawford Electronics. After retiring, she continued her passion for caregiving by going above and beyond to help those in need. Her kind and compassionate heart was born out of her firm, steadfast faith in God. It was evident that she did His work throughout her near-century with us. Though she dearly loved her church, her very life bore witness to her relationship with Jesus, who must've welcomed her home with the tender words, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husbands, Melvin Turpin and Glenn Wright; her sons, Ralph Turpin and Toney Turpin; and her son-in-law, John Staten.

She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Fayma & Richard Shedelbower (Robinson, IL) and Loretta & Steve Moeller (Channahon, IL); her son & daughter-in-law, Albert & Joyce Turpin (Sylvester, GA); by eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the service, family and friends will have the opportunity to publicly share memories of this dear woman. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to "Lincolnland Hospice", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
