Martha Louise Weger, 89, of Robinson, IL, passed away on June 24th in Brownsburg, IN, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Louise was born on June 4th, 1935, at the home of her parents, Grace Hart Misner and Darrell Misner, in Crawford County, Illinois. She married Larry Dean Weger on February 4, 1955, and had two children, Todd Allen Weger and Lora DeAn Weger-Layman. Larry preceded Louise in death on March 20, 1998.
Louise was preceded in death by her father and mother, Darrell and Grace Hart Misner, her siblings, Victor Leon (who died as an infant shortly after birth) and James Allen Misner, father and mother-in-law Marshall and Francis Weger, and her brothers-in-law, Ron Weger and Buddy Burris.
She is survived by Marjorie Beverly Burris (Sister), Judy Misner (Sister-in-Law), Jean Weger (Sister-in-Law), Todd Allen Weger (Son), Tracy Cunefare Weger (Daughter-in-Law), Lora Weger-Layman (Daughter), Timothy Layman (Son-in-Law), Alexander Layman (Grandson), Rick (Nephew) and Vickie Weger, Ronda (Niece) and Rick Koester, Geff (Nephew) and Deena Burris, Lisa (Niece) and Mark Harris, Randy (Nephew) and Cindy Burris and Ginger (Niece) and Vic Tingley. She was especially blessed with her one grandchild, Alex, who was very special to her. She loved him very much and he visited her during many summers when he was growing up.
Louise, as she liked to be called, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. (She was also affectionately known as "Grandma Weesie", a name bestowed on her by her young grandson Alex.) She always made sure her family and friends were well taken care of before herself. She was a selfless Christian woman who always strived to serve others. She accepted Christ at a young age and read, and listened to, her Bible daily. She was a member of Robinson Free Methodist Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday School for over 35 years. She also served in other capacities with the church including the church board, vacation bible school, organizing the funeral dinner ministry, delivering home-cooked meals to families, and other Christian ministries.
After finishing grade school, Louise went to work as a nanny. After marriage, she was a military wife for a couple of years, and she was a wonderful homemaker the rest of her life. She will be remembered for her love of her I-phone, gardening, reading, antiques, travelling, and most of all hummingbirds. She enjoyed spending time and travelling with her family to Hawaii, Florida, Maine, the Outer Banks, Wisconsin, Mexico, and San Francisco. Louise was a wonderful cook and prepared many meals and desserts for her loved ones. She was her family's guide and the best cheerleader in all their activities. She impressed upon her children to get a good education.
Everyone who knew Louise would describe her as kind, sweet, godly, giving, thoughtful and loving. She was always concerned with the welfare of others. Her faith was her bedrock, and she lived her life as a testament to that faith. Louise will be greatly missed by her family and friends but they know she is home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1st at the Robinson Free Methodist Church. The family would like to thank our Indiana University Hospice Team for their excellent care and support of our mother and support to the family. A special thanks to Nurse Cassie; besides being an awesome nurse, she has the voice of an angel.
