She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1947 in a class of 25 students, of whom she and her best friend as of last year's seventy-fifth class reunion were the only surviving members. After she and her husband, Ralph, were married on November 18, 1950, they settled in Robinson, where he had been working since the end of his service during World War II. Marjorie took pride in her home and yard, and like her mother, had a passion for plants and flowers. She was an excellent cook, known for her fried chicken and potato salad. She had an interest in collecting antiques, and all things British, particularly British television, and was an avid reader. Through the years, Marjorie enjoyed traveling with her family; a favorite destination being St. Petersburg, Florida, and ocean-side stays. Joining family in Central and Southern Illinois for holidays and special occasions were always treasured. She had an extra special relationship with her granddaughter Julie Beth, and Julie's sons Cade and Cooper, who brought tremendous joy to her.
In the 1960s, Marjorie was involved in the local girls' organizations of Blue Birds and Campfire Girls. Throughout her active life in Robinson, she was devoted to the family's church, First United Methodist, serving as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and as a member of several administrative councils. She was active for many years in the Democratic Party of Crawford County. In the 1980s, Marjorie began a career with Lincoln Trail College, teaching for the Community Education Program in area long term care facilities with classes in current events and cultural activities.
Marjorie leaves daughters, Julia Pfeiffer Scherrer of Marion, Anne Pfeiffer Kane of Marion, a granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Parks, her sons Cade and Cooper Parks, and their father, Jeremy Parks, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Jeff and Donna Parks, of Marion.
