Marion June Moade

April 17, 1929 — February 14, 2024

Marion June Moade, 94, of Robinson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Arbor Rose of Robinson. Born in Robinson on April 17, 1929, she would spend her entire life in the community that she held so dear. Though her marriage to Earl Edwin Moade on January 11, 1946 meant she didn't graduate with the Robinson High School Class of 1947, she didn't let this stop her from living a good and productive life. A hardworking and industrious woman, Marion balanced raising her four children with various jobs outside the home. She worked evenings at the Gordon Drive-In Theater, where her son Les learned valuable life lessons by helping her. Her excellent work extended to counter-service at Woolworth's and room cleaning at the Arvin Motel. Marion's commitment to her family and community culminated in a rewarding career in the mail room at L.S. Heath & Sons, where she retired in 1986.

Adventure played a significant role in Marion's retirement years, as she and Earl explored the world of antiquing and relished the joy of travel, their adventures taking them across various landscapes. Although their attempt to snowbird in Florida was brief, as they missed the change of seasons back home, their joyrides to Terre Haute and time spent with grandchildren were the simple pleasures that defined their golden years.

Her loved ones could attest to the fact that Marion's kitchen was the heart of her home. From her humble beginnings as a cook who could barely boil an egg to the creator of sumptuous butter biscuits, shortbread cookies, and tenderloin breakfasts on Christmas mornings, she nourished not just the bodies but the souls of all who gathered around her table. Marion's love for food was matched only by her passion for creativity, as seen in her painting and crocheting, which filled her family's homes with warmth and beauty.

Marion's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she cared for many children in the neighborhood, demonstrating her innate kindness. While some connections faded over time, Marion's love remained a steady presence for those within her circle. It must be said that her faith was an integral part of her essence. From her baptism at Brooks Lake to her dedicated attendance at Dayspring Christian Fellowship, it was evident that Marion was a woman who loved her Lord.

Marion Moade's life paints a picture of a woman whose legacy is woven through the lives she touched, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the memories she crafted with those she held dear. May we who are left behind hold onto those memories, letting them sustain us until that sweet day when, by the grace of God, we see her again!

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Les & Rhonda Moade, and by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Earl Moade; her parents, Leslie & Enid (Hart) Fortney; her sister, Myra Irene Miller; her daughters, Earlene "Kay" Brashier, Diane Kibler, and Marsha Stanfield; her grandchildren, Amanda Brashier and Andrew Kincaid; and her great-granddaughter, Kaylee Bennington.
