Marie Louise Leonard, 93 of Robinson, IL, died at 12:23 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at her home after an extended illness. She was born September 4, 1916 in Monico, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward John Meyer and Ella Lena Nehls Meyer. She attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church, the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, and was an avid bridge player. She played bridge with the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday Bridge groups in Robinson. Marie married Russell Bailey “Rud” Leonard on September 24, 1936, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Atchison and her son, James B. Leonard; her granddaughter, Susan (Chapman) Miller; 2 great grandchildren, Addie Martin and Gary Martin; 4 brothers, John, Bill, Bob, and Eddie Meyer; 4 sisters, Marge Withas, Louise Dawd, Bernice Leach, and Dorothy Cline; and a son-in-law, Gustaf Francis Schmidt III.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kay Leonard, Lake Park, GA; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Carolene and John Chapman, Robinson, Emella “Dee Dee” and Don Trout, Robinson, Bette Schmidt, Midlothian, VA, and Barbara “Bobbie” Murray, Robinson; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Leslie Chapman, LiAnne (Leonard) and Gary Martin, Jon H. and Allison Leonard, Jr., Dawn (Atchison) and David Wood, Bradley E. and Kara Atchison, Jeff and Kelley Atchison, Jon and Christina Schmidt, Scott Schmidt, Aaron and Sherri Murray, Jim and Michelle Murray, Molly (Murray) and Dennis Mendenhall, LCPL Bailey Leonard IV, and Meyers Leonard; 23 great grandchildren, Christopher Miller, John B. Miller, Lauren M. Chapman, John B. Chapman, Cody Chamblin, Shanon Martin, Mary Leonard, Jon H. Leonard III, Pate Leonard, Ashton Schmidt, Kirsten Wood, Jane Atchison, Katherine Atchison, Kyla Atchison, Bryleigh Atchison, Michael Murray, Daniel Murray, Sarah Murray, Anna Murray, Brandon Johnson, Nicholas Murray, Alex Murray, Zachary Mendenhall; and 1 great- great grandson, Bryce Johnson. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Nadine Fisher, Delaine Ory, Nilah and Rod Visser, Janet and Jim Bartz, all of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Brother Maurice Midgley, O. S. L. is in charge of services. Burial is in the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church or to the Lincoln Land Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
