Margaret Mary "Peggy" Keen, 72, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Leonard and Jean Raczkowski. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston in 1975. Over the years, she worked for four Chicago mayors in roles focused on budgeting, economic development, resource management, and the resettlement of Cambodian immigrants. In 1984, Peggy and her husband, Patrick, relocated to Robinson, where she continued her commitment to public service. She briefly served as an Alderman and later became the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce. She concluded her professional career in the business office of the Correctional Center, a facility she played a key role in bringing to Crawford County.
A passionate master gardener, Peggy found great joy in tending her flower beds and being outdoors. She volunteered for many years as the beloved "Picture Lady" in the Robinson School System. During visits to the Chicago area, she especially enjoyed exploring local museums. Among her many accomplishments, Peggy was most proud of her community outreach work. She had a rare gift for connecting with young people who needed guidance and support. Peggy was a talented writer and won the James Jones Society award for fiction.
