Margaret Goodwin, 92 of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. She was born June 24, 1914 in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of Fred S. Prichard and Laura Thompson Prichard. She was a homemaker and retired music teacherforPalestine High School as well asfor the rural schools of Lawrence County. She started playing piano at the Ottawa Baptist Church at 16 years of age and continued playing for the Palestine Presbyterian Church Sunday School as long as she was physically able. She was also a member of the Current Topics Club in Palestine and a member of the Palestine First Presbyterian Church.Margaret married Jim Goodwin and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Ross Goodwin in 1997; and her 3 brothers, William, Lawrence, and John Prichard.Survivors are her 2 daughters and her son-in-law, Joan Goodwin, West Lafayette, IN and Sandy and Robert Bryans, rural Flat Rock; 5 grandchildren, Dawn and her husband, Larry Biggs, Palestine, Diann and husband, Brian Nolte, Lake Forest, CA, Jim Bryans, Springfield, Joshua Goodwin, Evansville, IN, Jennifer and her husband, Jason Wesco, Pittsburg, KS; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Goodwin, rural Flat Rock; sisters-in-law, Jane Prichard, San Diego, CA, Eleanor Goodwin, West Salem, Inez Curtis, Edgewood, NM, Mary Goodwin, Vincennes, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Tom Akers is in charge of services. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to service time at 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children or to the American Diabetes Association, with envelopes at the funeral home.
