Manford Mullins

Manford “Moonbeam” Mullins, 99 ½, of Robinson, died at 6:33 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 8, 1919, the son of Walter and Grace Mullins. He married Margaret Lloyd on March 28, 1946. He served in WWII as a Private with the 2nd Armored Division, 702 Tank Destroyer Battalion, Headquarters Company (Supply). He served his country for 4 years and 22 days. During his tour of duty, he was stationed/traveled through the following countries: Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Holland, Scotland, Switzerland and the United States. He was proud about his time he served and shared his war stories with anyone that would listen. He was a man of many trades. In his lifetime he worked at Acme Chevrolet, Musgrave’s Automotive, ran a coal yard in Flat Rock, ran a Marathon gas station in Flat Rock, ran a Texaco station outside of Oblong, farmed and worked in oil fields. He enjoyed talking on the CB, working on his sawmill and harvesting persimmons with his beloved wife and the rest of his family. He devoted his life on providing for his wife, 14 children and many grandchildren. He was a man of faith that believed that all things happened the way the Lord intended them to. He was loved by so many family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Fulk, Mascoutah, IL; and Lorri and Ed Bonesteel, Flat Rock, IL; by his sons Richard and Bev Mullins, Hutsonville, IL; Larry and Laura Mullins, Flat Rock, IL; Lee and Tanya Mullins, Robinson, IL; Doug Mullins, Palestine, IL; Stanley and Phyllis Mullins, Robinson, IL; Ronnie and Teresa Mullins, Flat Rock, IL; Craig and Vanessa Mullins, Palestine, IL; Dale and Diana Mullins, Robinson, IL; Kevin and Kelly Mullins, Flat Rock; and Tim and Rachel Mullins, Flat Rock, IL; and by his son-in-law Jack Anderson, Robinson, IL; 55 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren ; seven great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his family at Ridgeview Care Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Mullins; his parents; by two brothers; by two sisters; by his daughters, Sharon Elaine Mullins and Sandra Joyce Anderson; and by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Graveside services will immediately follow and will be officiated by Rev. Jerry McDaniel at the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson, where military services will also be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, American Legion Post #69, and Marine Corps League Det. #546, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the “V.F.W. Transportation Fund”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
