Mandy Goff, 86, of Robinson, IL, passed away on January 3, 2023, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. She was born on July 24, 1936, the daughter of Amos Henry & Gracie Ellen (Goff) Higgins. She grew up in the Port Jackson area and eventually graduated from Oblong High School. She married Norman Goff on June 15, 1955, and together, they made a life for themselves in the Hardinville area. Though she worked at the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, Crawford Electronics, and Victor Dana, her life's work was her house and those who called it "home". Here, she spent innumerable hours in their garden, where her green thumb brought to life bushels of tomatoes, carrots, and corn, among other produce. It goes without saying that canning was no small part of life on the homestead, nor was caring for the chickens and other animals that found their home with the Goffs.
Much of her free time found Mandy working with a needle and thread, as she sewed and embroidered countless treasures for her family. She was particularly adept at crocheting, as evidenced by the sheer volume of toboggan hats and afghans that found their way to her loved ones. They each will cherish wonderful memories of times spent driving Mandy around to run errands, ventures that were always capped off with the question, "So, where are we going to go to eat?"
In the twilight of her life, she found joy in doing jigsaw and word search puzzles, and while that filled her time, it was her faith that filled her heart. As she neared the end of her 86 years, she turned her heart more and more to Jesus, who met her Tuesday night with arms wide open to welcome her home.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her son, Norman "Junior" Goff; her grandchildren, Jennifer & Devin "Opie" Turner (Robinson, IL) and Jack D., Sr. & Kayla Goff (Robinson, IL); her great-grandchildren, Bailey Mitchell, Mitch Mitchell, Averlynn Turner, Jack D. Goff, Jr., and Vinson Goff; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, including her dear friend, Donna Condrey (Glen Carbon, IL).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Norman Goff; her parents, Amos Henry & Gracie Ellen Higgins; her brothers, Burl Edward Higgins, Jessie James Higgins, Barney Higgins, Albert Higgins, Charles M. Higgins, and John Higgins; her sisters, Elizabeth Kessler and Martha Bachelor; her half-brother, George Thomas Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Jackie Goff; as well as her great-grandsons, Luca Turner and Emerson Turner.
