MaDonna Myers, 83, of Palestine, IL, died January 1, 2021, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson, IL. She was born May 10, 1937, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Jesse & Ada Louise (Newlin) Eaton, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Jerry Myers on June 27, 1953, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Myers; brother, Jack Eaton; and by three sisters, Lavera Harris, Sheila Woods, and Vickie Eaton. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Tony & Debbie Myers (Porterville, IL); by her daughter & son-in-law, Candy & Cleman Parish (Palestine, IL); by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; by her sister, Sandy K. Goff (Flat Rock, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. She grew up in the Mattoon and Hardinville areas before marrying and settling down with her husband, Jerry. Though she worked for a number of local businesses and entities, her house and all those who called it "home" were the callings of her life. The kitchen, in particular, was where she shined. Her noodles were the stuff of legend and were just one part of the smorgasbord that made up the Myers family Thanksgiving feast. In fact, she didn't need a holiday to go all-out for a meal, as her family could attest. If you went away from her house hungry, it was your fault! Music played a vital role throughout MaDonna's 83 years. Few things brought life to her living than singing and plucking on her beloved Martin guitar, though she was known to play other bluegrass instruments as well. She attended countless get togethers of local bluegrass musicians, and these were always a highlight of her week. We who are left behind remember the life of MaDonna Myers with fondness. Though she could (and would) "tell you how it was", at her heart, she was a woman of great kindness and compassion, the rock of her family. Though she is gone, never will she be forgotten. Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. MaDonna will be laid to rest in the Palestine Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
