Lynda M. Wilson

October 20, 1941 — June 22, 2020

Lynda M. Wilson, 78, of Palestine, IL, died June 22, 2020, in the comfort of her home. She was born October 20, 1941, in Lower Sand Ridge, the daughter of Porter Collins & Mary (Bennett) Collins, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Mark Wilson on December 31, 1984, and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2016. She was also preceded in death by five sisters; and by her sons, Donnie Myers (in infancy), Steve Miller & David Miller. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Mary & Les Hightshoe (Hutsonville, IL); by her sister, Susie Franklin; by her brothers, Donald Collins and Ed Collins; by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She grew up in the Birds area before starting a family. From then on, her life was dedicated to tending to her house and all who called it "home". She was, by all accounts, a nurturer. If you entered her house, chances were, you'd be asked, "Want some tea?" Her welcoming nature was an overflow of the kindness that poured out of her daily life. Her 78 years was also marked by a passion for music. Though she had a fondness for artists by the likes of George Jones and Elvis Presley, she was also a talent in her own right. Her house was often graced by the sounds of her beautiful singing and playing the guitar or piano. Though she loved spending time at home, she also spent quite a bit of time out of it. She enjoyed attending yard sales and gravitated towards dolls of all kinds to add to her collection. She was also an avid traveler and was able to see much of the continental United States throughout her life. We who had the good fortune of knowing her will never forget her wonderful sense of humor, nor her selfless, kind-hearted love. It lives on in each of us and will do so as long as we have a soul stirring within us and the breath to speak of her wonderful life. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28th at the Palestine Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the graveside, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share thoughts and memories of Lynda. For the protection of all involved, it is requested that attendees wear face coverings and observe social distancing practices. In the case of incliment weather, it is also recommended that attendees bring an umbrella, as there will be no tent.
