Lorena "Renie" Weger White

Lorena "Renie" Adair Weger White, 86, of Robinson, Illinois, died at 11:51 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Willowbrook Memory Support Residence in Effingham, IL. She was born on October 22, 1932, in Robinson, IL the daughter of Virgil & Opal (Leggitt) Weger, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Don White on April 15, 1978, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her step-granddaughter, Deanna Marie Martinez; by her uncle, Johnny Leggitt; and by her cousin, Karen Swankhouse. She is survived by her step-daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie W. & Mario A. Martinez (Houston, TX) and Cindy L. & Mike T. Beard (Robinson, IL); by her step-grandchildren, Meagan & Bryce Hagelstein, Wade & Jamie Shimer, Lindsay & Brad Gnade, Kyle Shimer & Ashley Halston, and Camron & Alyvea Beard;by her 6 step-great grandchildren, and by her cousins, Linda Lowery (IL), Bud Hanson (OH), Sandy Calvelage (OH), and Mary Ann Stewart (OH). Renie was a 1950 graduate of Robinson Township High School and would go on to be presented with the National Office Manager's Award (NOMA) upon graduating from Lockyear's Business College in Evansville, IN. Following her graduation, she began working as a secretary in the marketing division of the Ohio Oil Company (later known as Marathon Oil Company). When the Marketing Division closed down, she took a secretary position with L.S. Heath & Sons for 10 years before returning to Marathon Production Division office in Bridgeport. When all was said and done, she had spent a total of 28 years in Marathon's three Division Offices before retiring in 1988. Never one to let dust settle, in 1970, she opened a bridal shop, "Brides by Lorena", operating on evenings and Saturdays only for seven years. When she wasn't working, she was often busy giving her time to local organizations. She served at president of the Robinson Junior Woman's Club, and was also a former member of the James Halstead Chapter, D.A.R. and Chapter LX, P.E.O. A woman of faith, she was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Robinson. She was baptized at the age of 10 and would go on to sing in both the original junior and adult choirs, often singing solos and in cantatas. She also taught 1st and 2nd graders in the church's primary department for 10 years as well. Renie will be remembered as a faithful and devoted wife. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15th at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Pastor J.D. Branson officiating the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Alzheimer's Association" or the "Lorena A. Weger White and J. Donald White Foundation".
