Lois Elliott-Mcconnell

Lois Elliott-McConnell, 97, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Magnolia Center in Robinson. She was born August 24, 1921 in Hunt City, IL, the daughter of Glenn Abraham & Mabel (Murray) Abraham, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Gracen Elliott in 1941, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1962. She then married Robert McConnell on July 25, 1973, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marcia Cramer and Sadie McCoy; by her brother, Quentin “Abe” Abraham; by her son, Dr. Michael Elliott; and by her grandson, Jeffrey Elliott. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane Elliott (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Dr. Michael (II) & Angie Elliott (Robinson, IL), Amy Goodwin (Robinson, IL), Matt Elliott (Robinson, IL), and John & Beth Santo (VA); by her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Elliott, Michael Elliott III, Taylor Goodwin, Justin Goodwin, Mary Alice Elliott, Gracen Elliott, Chris Santo, Allison Hickey, Meredith Santo, and John Santo III; as well as several nieces and nephews. Lois worked as the billing clerk for Ameren for 20 years before enjoying a long and fulfilling retirement. Much of her later years found her either traveling or on the golf course, golf being a passion she enjoyed daily. She was a lover of all sports, and especially enjoyed watching University of Illinois basketball games. Lois was a woman of faith and was a 60-year member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church. She was also a 25-year member of the Eastern Star as well as a 30-year member of the Crawford Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a group that had a special place in her heart. When she wasn’t playing golf or volunteering at the hospital, she could be found out in her garden and was also known to watch the deer coming through to pay her garden a visit. Lois was a very proper woman; a “lady”, if ever you met one. Her devotion to others was evident in her day-to-day living, and she left a legacy that will live on for years to come. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with services immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis. Memorials may be made to the “Robinson First United Methodist Church”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
