Lloyd E. Wampler, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at his daughter’s residence. He was born February 16, 1922 at the Homestead, Montgomery Township, Crawford County, IL, the son of Leonard Leslie Wampler and Elva Nancy Leathers Wampler. He was a Journeyman Steamfitter. He served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theatre, Philippines during WWII. He was a member of the Robinson Free Methodist Church, the Oblong American Legion Post, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, NRA, Plumbers, Steamfitters Local #157, Terre Haute, IN, and Sons of the American Revolution.He married Martha E. Tohill December 22, 1940 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Joyce Ellen and John A. Griffin, rural Willow Hill, Donna J. Dart, Robinson; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Harry D. and Patricia A. Wampler, Columbus, IN, Thomas R. and Sharon S. Wampler, Flat Rock, Stephen L. and Tokiko K., Chengdu, China, and Carl W. and Kathy Jo Wampler, Robinson; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 grandchildren; his sister, Mary Zehner, and 3 brothers, Raymond, August, and Maurice Wampler.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Free Methodist Church, Robinson with Pastor Burl Shinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, September 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Free Methodist Church. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Free Methodist Church.
