Lisa Lindsay-Young, 51, of Flat Rock, IL, died Monday, May 9, 2016 in the comfort of her home. She was born December 4, 1964 in Sullivan, IN, the daughter of Billy & Betty Lindsay. She married Dr. Stephen Young on June 15, 1996, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Joanna Young. She is survived by her parents, Billy & Betty Lindsay (Flat Rock, IL); by her brothers, Bill & Jill Lindsay (Lawrenceville, IL) and John Lindsay (Lawrenceville, IL); by her sister, Kathy & Keith Boyer (Lawrenceville, IL); by her children, Eric & Melinda Young (Apex, TX), Wende Young (Austin, TX), and David Young (Austin, TX); by her grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Marie, Isaac, and Hannah; by her sister-in-law, Karen & Louis Krizak (Austin, TX); as well as several nieces & nephews. Lisa was a 1983 graduate of Lawrenceville High School, where she was a member of the volleyball team, the dance team and played the saxophone in the band. She furthered her education at the Vincennes University School of Nursing and at the University of Texas-Tyler. She was a nurse for 35 years, and also assisted her husband, Dr. Stephen Young and managed their cardiology office. Away from work, she didn’t slow down. She spent much of her free time caring for her brother John and helping her parents on the farm. Lisa enjoyed gardening and was also known for her love of cooking and trying new recipes. She was a talented metalsmith, and ran a jewelry business on the side. She was a very creative and talented soul, and her friends and family will remember her big heart. She was happy to return home to Flat Rock and was enjoying renovating her childhood house. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14th at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine and Brother J.D. Branson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. In honor of her love of animals, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, or to the Flat Rock Community Center, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
