Linda Sue Cooley

Linda Sue Cooley passed away on January 11th, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She lived 66 years, with her life beginning on December 21st, 1958, when she was born in Lawrenceville, IL, to Lawrence & Reba (Ford) Midgett.

She left high school during her senior year to care for her ailing mother, a testament to her caring and selfless nature. Determined to continue her education, she earned her GED two years later. In 1996, she received an Associate's Degree from Lincoln Trail College, where she was honored as a USA Today Academic All-American. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1998 and a Master's Degree in Community Counseling in 2001, both from Eastern Illinois University. She worked as a mental health counselor at Robinson Family Counseling Center before transitioning to a career in home healthcare. With a generous heart and a love for helping others, she also found joy in spending time outdoors with her animals and grandchildren, often making up silly songs to delight her grandkids.

She lives on through her husband, Terry Cooley; her son, Tony Cooley; her grandsons, Ethan and Dylan Cooley; her brother, Leon Midgett; her brother Les and his wife, Vanessa Midgett; her nephew, Lee Midgett; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reba & Lawrence Midgett, and her brother, Larry Midgett.

A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be made to either the "Robinson Food Pantry" or to the "Crawford County Humane Society." Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
