Linda Stevenson

September 4, 1937 — September 3, 2021

Linda Stevenson, 83, of Robinson, IL, passed away into the loving arms of her Savior on September 3, 2021, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson, IL. She was born September 4, 1937, the daughter of Robert & Pearl (Emmons) Shields, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents-in-law, James Leo Stevenson & Naomi Melissa Stevenson, and by her son-in-law, Michael Church. She married Ronald Stevenson on March 17, 1957, and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses, Diana Church (Robinson, IL) and Lori & Jerry Crozier (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Paul Crozier and Parker Crozier; by her great-grandchildren, Gaven Crozier & Jace Donaldson; by her siblings, Bob & Terri Shields (Vincennes, IN), Jerry & Barbara Shields (Portage, IN), Sharon & J.D. Dowling (Abingdon, VA), and Janet & Donnie Robinson (Marshall, IL); by her sister-in-law, Newana Shull (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Scripture tells us that "...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." With this in mind, it could be said that Linda Stevenson's life bore witness to her walk with the Lord. She lived out of a deep well of love and a joyful abundance that made her a living display of the gospel. A great lover of people, she recognized how foundational relationships are to our souls and poured into the lives of countless friends, family members, and members of her church family. She was a faithful, 39-year member of Dayspring Christian Fellowship, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School for the church's teens. Anyone who knew her could attest to her love of children, and it was obvious that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were each the apple of their grandma's eye. In fact, her family each held a special place in Linda's heart. Though her passing has left a void in our lives, we find great hope and assurance that, by the grace of God, we will hear that wonderful laugh of hers again, in a place where tears are no more, and life will be ours forevermore. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson.
